That sounds like a good idea, (I'll see if I can take a sabbatical in order to write full time ) but wouldnt it just be the same as keeping our profiles updated?

Is a very nice idea...as long as the contributors have no intention of ever selling said motors on the forum!!!

Can imagine - "VGC" in the advert, and reams of faults and breakdowns in the long-term write-up!!!

I've not been to any PH meets before, or yet! (doing London tunnellers in Jan though) but I'd like to see some QUALITY Jap meets - NOT like the Reading Rice Fests and Chav Kruizes, but quality top Japanese motorheads meeting up

(And I don't know if there are any Jap PH meets at the moment anyway)

Do yours have reams of faults and breakdowns then? My only problem in a year of Supe ownership was a flat battery after leaving it in the drive for 7 weeks, the alarm drianed it, charged up, started first time.

Was thinking of Flibbers!

If your cables have seized it's prob worth checking the tension & run from handle ,along tunnel, back to the wheel. Prob just corrosion on surfaces. Some charlie tried to charge me £150 labour & £50ish per cable, a few years back, unless yours're really mashed, when all was needed was a damn good cleaning & lubing.

Fixed it. A load of boiling water over the caliper seems to have freed it up

As for the original thread:
I do like the idea of the 'long termers' thing, certainly make for a good read. Some of the potential probs have been mentioned, mostly around sale time. Also most folk tend to work on their p&js in spurts, so posts may have large time gaps in them.Something long-term that most JC-PHers could regularly contribute their experiences to would be most welcome.imho.
-Other ideas could be car/model specific info or 'buying guide' type things.
-A sticky with Jap performance/modified friendly insurers web sites, to include current insurance rating for models.- sorry to be an old fart guys, I do get fed up reading & recommending insurance comps for *unlikely* drivers/buyers, when there is a good PH search engine, this hasn't happened in a while but is almost non-stop sometimes.............oops sorry, bit of of a half pissed rant going on there [hic]

hmm.. don't know whether Ted will aprove, but a table of various owners-club websites/forums for all the various machinery might be useful for directing newbies/potential jap-buyers to?? sxoc/mx5oc/mkiv/mr2oc/fduk etc etc

other than that, just more meets would be good... "JapChat Does The 'Ring", Day at Anglesea as proposed in the Evo- Triangle thread... that kind of thing as well as more low-key pub meets and such...

i think a sticky with a little list of recommended insurers and perhaps OC's could help.
Also a sweepstakes on Fibbs warning lights per week???

Could add those to this though:

www.oilypages.com/Default.asp?nr=1

Don't think there is anything jap related in there at the moment.

There isn't a specific section, but both s2ki.com and s2kuk.com are listed You just need to submit the links and Ted adds them we get quite a few hits as a result, and send quite a few to PH too

Going back to a longterm thread type thing [a now soberish tuttle ]
Howabout some sort of members experiences with mods/upgrade products that they have bought/tried/fitted/used etc. Within this some sort of rating & mini review could be included.Personally I love this kind of stuff, reading about the trials & tribulations of peoples' project experiences is top reading for me, gives insightful & useful knowledge but also the human *cocked-it-up but fixed it in the end* humour. JC-PHers could share info & compare their experiences with upgrades as well as just the cars...

Oh! And a happy noo year & safe driving to us all

Really like the 'long term' evo-style write-up thing. One thing i wish evo did was writeups of older 'calssic' performance motors rather than mostly new stuff.

Could have a monthly submission to a duly nominated editor who could format and post on the thread and have a separate discussion thread to keep it neat. As a minimum have the mileage/mpg for the month and longer write-ups as and when there's something to write about. Could do a thread per contributor but that would get cluttered. One big post with decent formatting would be best imo.

Sticky the article thread and link to the discussion thread...

Planning a concerted track day attack this year (including ring) so more Jap Chatters doing this would be good company.

HNY everyone!

There's a regular contingent on FDUK who go 5-6 times a year - or did last year, including snow and ice! Others are always more than welcome so I'll post up details as an when I know them.

Gazboy, you think we could sticky a Jap show/track drift etc season calender for the year, or something?
We could list all the major events, they do seem to be growing in number, with a little bit about each one. Folks could also add local or car specific club meets etc.
