Nissan gets the Urge

Bike-inspired concept to debut in Detroit

Nissan Urge
Nissan Urge
Set to make its world debut in early January 2006 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit is the dynamic Nissan URGE concept.

Described as "a pure, powerful sports car with motorcycle-inspired styling, the rear-wheel drive URGE features a quick, high-revving, small-displacement engine, 6-speed manual gearbox, brushed aluminium-alloy wheels, colour-infused aluminium body panels and a driver-oriented cockpit with an integrated Xbox 360 gaming system."

Created by Nissan Design America, it's unclear whether this rather good-looking motor will ever become reality but Nissan told PH that we should know more next month.

I wonder if they'll do a 'naked' style version - which would inevidably compete with the Ariel Atom.

And if they build it? Will a Nissan badge be enough to scare the Establishment from their assorted Loti?

(really just wanted to use the word 'Loti')

A driver-oriented cockpit with an integrated Xbox 360 gaming system."??
Who needs that in a lightweight oriented car
But I like the RWD in a small Nissan again...

it was all going well until one of the designers watched MTV and decided that you need to have Xbox in your car. with out the waste of space computer it sounds good. sort of thing that would go well with the Ariel Atom

Small = poor quality in N Am.
No toys (driver distraction aids) = cheapo poor quality in the N Am market.
It won't sell in the US unless it has useless gadgets.

Sounds like an alternative to the Smart Coupe.

If the XBox really is integrated I don't see how it would weigh any more than, say, a Stack?

Small displacement revvy engine, sure I've heard that before somewhere...

powertrain layour? possibly MR? suspension layout and geometry...

a lot is in question... no tech data...

just sketch... I just wish we had more data

The X-box might be a gimmick but a decent in-car-PC implementation might make sence.

-Play MP3s off the hard drive
-Navigation with a nice big screen
-Monitor, Record and Analyse lap times, g forces, telemetry, etc.
-Park up in a wireless hotspot and check your favourite forum.
-With voice activation software you can pretend to be David Hasselhoff. Nitrous turbo boost anyone?

I suppose an Xbox with the right sofware could do all that, and as already mentioned it would not be much heavier than a stack.

Maybe more appropriate for a luxo barge than a firework tho.
