Legnum VR4 ????
Discussion
Im considering a Legnum VR4 to replace my chunky 4X4...
I need a boot for doggies but I really want a car that can be a daily driver but still rip when needed.
I have also thought about an Impreza wagon - but the Legnum seems a bit 'different' and has a much better boot.
What does anyone else think, and what else should I consider ?

if you're after something with a boot a bit bigger than an impreza it'd be worth trying a legacy wagon (esp. in GT or GT-B twin-turbo form), pretty much a bigger, more grown up, arguably better looking WRX wagon.
similiar performace in a straight line to VR4 but a fair bit better thru the twisties due to lower c.o.g etc.

The VR4 is a well under-rated beast, imo, tho not that many performance mods available. I once witnessed two vr4's (one was a legnum) taking on a pair of Evo VI's at Castle Coombe in the wet, the '4s were keeping up thru all the corners & only lost a little ground on the straights (shortish straights @ C.C).
Round here there seem to be quite a few old boys with them, so there ought be a good chance of picking up an unmolested one.

VR4 - oh
I have an '00 VR4, very awesome indeed, 280 bhp, 5-speed tiptronic, I'd recommend one. Very smooth, refined V6, deceptively nippy, with active yaw control like the Evos it's a very capable estate car - apart from the Impreza estate (too small) or an Evo (saloon only), or RS or S4 Audi's there isn't much that will do the same job. I had a Forester turbo before this - totally chalk and cheese. The only downsides are a need for servicing every 4.5k, weak brakes if you're going to track it, expensive parts from Mitsubishi, some imported un-historied cars can be moneypits, and no matter what anyone says, you WILL regularly dip below 20 mpg (super-unleaded). 25 to the gallon is difficult.
If you're after some info, go to ClubVR4 - you'll need to register to access the majority of the info, but it's dead useful, wouldn't have bought mine without the club being there as a knowledge base.
Go drive one!!
