Yes...Russ has been taking out his stresses at work on the traffic light GP circuit again...

So there I was, coming off the M42 on the way back from work, I note a guy in a BMW do a full bore launch off the lights and round the roundabout. Hmmmm interesting i think.....but Im a few cars back and can think of more reasonable places to have a play.

Down the A45, Beemer man has long gone.....but when I reach the next sets of lights, who should be at the front of the queue but beemer man, with an empty lane next to him. It would be rude not to show him how its done, especially as its a nice national dual carriageway.

You know when you can just tell that the other guy is really going to go for it? Lights change and we both perform an emergency start... 0.....20.....40......60...... wtf I'm only *just* pulling away....70.....and so on. It was only after about 60 that I started to leave him, below that he was only just half a car length behind. Stopped at the next lights and gave him some 'respec'.

The car in question?

X5! I couldn't believe how quick it was! I mean fair play it was a 4.6iS but still it *really* surprised me!

Be careful out there, and I need more power!

Thank you and good night!

I tried my luck against a new M6, and got my arse handed back to me! Think I'll stick with M3's and older M5's...

I get confused, the new M6 is showing ~500bhp?, anyone know what the older models put out?
It's a terrible curse, but I've been trying hard not to get into too many traffic light GP's- puts a lot of strain on the old gals' drivetrain, esp the tyres(she has no tc or abs either).
Used to be I felt fairly confident she could dominate most contenders but a lot of newish stuff is seriously quick off the mark. Be prepared for (eventual) humble pie dudes

Probably an autobox X5 too - even my little Jeep is pretty spritely away from the lights (unless it's wet and I'm in rwd mode when it just sits there spinning the wheels for about 5 minues!). It's the autobox, no need for launch talent!

God I *need* my 7 back!

Old M5 is 400bhp, but you have a fighting chance as it weighs so bloody much.

Still bloody fast though.

Recently was destroyed by a big S class merc. As it blasted away, I just caught the 2 badges.

One said E55. The other said AMG.

Ye gods it was rapid over 60-70mph.
