OK, so, I'm a numpty.

Anyone any good at;
1) Sourcing these for reasonable amounts of cash
2) Fitting them
3) setting them up
4) 1-3 and near where I live....

Beer tokens available.

Too. Much. Choice.

Brake pads?
I have the greenstuff, have not faded on track days (light car though)but they do dust up like anything. I also hear that there can be trouble with the pads breaking up.

Fitting pads is not that hard, where do you live?

We use Carbotech pads. They are simply the very best I have tried so far, with very little fade/dust

Could do 2 and 3. 1 at a push.
4 is a bit more tricky...

Which one were you thinking of? I like the Apexi AVCR, but it is one of the more expensive. (Look on Ebay and import it from the US maybe)

Sorry, yes. Boost control.

(The four will turn EBC greenstuffs to slag in about 4 corners.....)

I'm actually *in* the US right now, just have no time to source a unit.

And tuttle, I was hoping you'd say something like that mate.

Cost of the unit is largely irrelevent as long as the quality/fuctionality is right.

The Blitz units look nice....

Hi James,
The Blitz is nice, Gazboy had one iirc.
The GReddy Profec B spec II is (for cheaper models) a damn reliable bit of kit, the *big boys* still use 'em, which must count for something. Plenty of functionality, tho only 2 (hi & low) boost settings, as opposed to the Blitz's 4+ scramble or over-boost.

When you get back to Blighty & sorted give us ( Batty too) a shout & we can make a day of it-or something.

Flying home in 7 hours. Given DC traffic, I'd probably better leave now......

Apexi AVC-R looks useful.

E Boost looks good too. Not the prettiest of electronics though.

I, of course, am back to the "Where the bloody hell am I putting it" question.

Function over form. They work brilliantly, more than can be said for the AVCR

If its any help, the Greddy unit is tiny, it's a little smaller than a pack of fags, which is small enough to fit on top of most steering columns without obscuring your dials/warning lights. Which is good if you want to monitor/fiddle with it whilst driving, me? I don't care- I set it up & use the analoge gauge in the 'A' pillar for readings. I put the unit under the dash next to the T-timer, not ideal as I keep knocking it with my knee. But easy enough placed to flick from lo->hi boost(single button press).Greddy do make a steering wheel attached remote switch for this, but its silly money, ~£120-150iirc for a sodding 2 way r.f. switch.

I live by the Apexi AVC-R, The ability to change the boost target and wastgate duty at set rpm points makes it a winner, easy to use as well.

The turbosmart e-boost is a seriously good bit of kit, not the best UI to it but very nice things can be done (like limiting boost in certain gears etc.).

Just had one fitted to my FD, apparently the Rad and Intercooler are all fabbed, stainless downpipe and braided break lines are on, just the injectors and hard-pipes to go and then it's mapping time.

Might be done for 2007 at this rate.

Yeah now My EBC of choice. Just about to change to an e-boost2 with shift lights and more AUX outputs.

I have had the following:

E-boost1 ( superb for control and simple to use. Has 1 aux switch )

HKS EZ2 - great very simple EBC

Blitz SBCID - Great bit of kit

Blitz DSBC - As above with less features

Apexi AVCR - Couldnt get stable boost with t. Maybe later models are better?
