Hi guys

I need to put a new set of tyres on the wife's CTR. So what are people using at the moment and how are they finding them? Feel free to point me a specialist CTR boards if you like.

Cheers

www.civictype-r.co.uk forum should tell you all you need to know. Personally I've stuck to the Bridgestones so far as they're OK performance and price wise. Others have tried Toyo's, Goodyear F1's, Pirelli's, Yokohama's and there was a cheaper tyre that was supposed to be pretty good too, can't think of the manufacturer at the moment but it'll definitely be mentioned in the CTR forum.

When I had my 03 plate R, I had good results from yokohama parada spec 2 rubber.

Reduced road noise, increased turn in feel and much much improved wet weather handling.

I changed to Bridgestone RE050 from the stock RE040 tyres. A good compromise... better in rain & poor conditions but not so soft that the handling suffers too much.

Thanks for the help guys. There is quite a bit on the type r forum. Looks like the yokos or toyos are the way to go. I will probably go with the toyos as was pretty pleased with them on the tiv (once they were bedded in which took quite awhile, before then they were lethal ).

Cheers

I am running Toyo T1-S Proxes on my CTR. They are wider (215 vs 205) but lower profile (40 vs 45).

Advantages over OEM Bridgestones :

- More grip in the dry
- More grip in the wet
- More progressive breakaway
- Much better wear rate
- Consistent grip over lifespan

Disadvantages over OEM Bridgesetones :

- Huge increase in road noise
- Slightly less precision in the steering

After having had them on my car for 15k miles I would never go back to Bridgestones.
