Nz kids twatting about with a Scooby ricer with the front drive disconnected.
These things ARE way to easy to drive in 4x4 mode - make you think you ARE a really goo driver - when really it is all the clever 4x4 and computer shite doing it for you.
Like Clarkson driving an EVO FQ400 Powersliding with one finger - Utter Bollox!

No - I'll leave that to you to put a link in there - applys to all 4x4 stuff though - just diguising what skill you have - don't get me wrong the stars that drive WRC cars for a living are the BEST DRIVERS in the WORLD - but you have to have 4x4 on the loose now aday's.
Just on the road get people into deep thinking they are driving god!

I agree, having four wheel drive makes the car easier to control, as does having four wide tyres.
The real men drive skinny tyred three wheelers!
How abou the gods that drove the prewar Benz and Auto Unions on 3 inche wide tyre with upto 600bhp!
I remember watching a documentry about those things; some driver said you could floor it in top gear at 150mph and spin up the back tyres! no thanks

Cobblers - these thing will not do 150 (unless modded to hell) and with 4x4 you will struggle to spin tthen up in the dry in second even at very low speed and gears.

Er - Splitting hairs - the NZ one is earlier.
SO it might just max out at 150 - if it at its Vmax or as near as damn it it is not going to spins it wheels! The peddle will already be Welded to the floor!
Crikey mate, the original statemeant was about Auto Unions with 600bhp running through 3 inch rubber...

Really not sure what the point being made here is.
Should we not be allowed AWD's in case we become over confident drivers or is the suggestion that we should all have stickers in the back saying 'I'm not really a good driver, the car's doing all the work'.
Equally confused as to why someone in a Porsche is allowed to have 4WD and a turbo becuase they have a 'proper sportscar' and yet because I occasionaly need a bit more practicality I am only allowed 2WD.
Very confusing. Incidentally mine is late nineties, pretty lightly modified and good for 160. I think any of the hotter models with UK gearing will manage about the same. Of course wheel spinning is not on the agenda above a few mph on a dry road. Sort of a design feature really.

Chill... only some fun - we know this thing are awesome and horses for course - some people just like being a bit closer to the action.
'I'm not really a good driver, the car's doing all the work'. That would be nice - can you get a batch made up.
Is the Porsche turbo 4x4 as well - Christ - GT2 isn't.
Porkers at least have stacks of weight out the back to keep it nailed to the road until the enevitable big slide happens - wellthen you just get on with it and try to sort it out - not the car do it all for you.

IIRC the UK version has an open front diff, viscous centre and a LSD on the back. Roughly 50:50 split front to rear. No computer control, all mechanical. Some of the JDM imports have the driver controlled centre diff (DCCD) where the torque split front to rear can be adjusted on the fly. The STIs may have slightly more trick LSDs front and rear but I guess it depends on the MY and model, eg. Type R, RA etc.
--------------------------------------------------- [/quote]Err so load of trick stuff then. One nice slippery diff should be enough for most fun. WRC with two wheel drive - now that would be good - let lobby to bring it back.
