Ok so my FTO has 60,000 miles and so far has been running great.
however...
both last night and this morning on overrun i have had a small amount of black (i think) smoke pop out of the exhaust.
only twice has it happened and only small amounts.
its not oil (1 litre per 10000 miles so far) and its not the head (coolant still full)
shes not too thirsty so fueling seems to be ok and its not running any different.
so any ideas chaps?
she runs every day to work and back (14miles) and has had an oil change 5000 miles ago.
my first thought would be to the valves/oil stem seals but the smoke defo was not blue.
Also she doesn't smoke at all on start up or heavy loading!!!
:smash: :scratchchin:
any ideas?
i think it maybe fueling related....

Black smoke is usually because of a rich fuel mixture. How do the plugs look?

Is exactly what I'd have said Esp if happening on over-run.

Other stuff,possibly worth checking:

Partially blocked cat?
Check/Sniff dipstick oil for fuel/water/ other contaminants.
