A friend of a friend has had his engine blow up and the garage quoted 2.5 - 3k to fix/change.
He was thinking to get a second hand engine instead and have it fitted but where is the best supply of these things. Is there a reliable source of good engines or is it just a case of keeping an eye on ebay/breakers for one to come up? What's a ballpark figure for buying one?

I'm not sure what engine size he has, I'm just fishing for some ideas to pass on.

Cheers

Which engine does he have old chum?

I recently aquired a 7A-FE for 300 quid.

Fensport (www.fensport.co.uk) can supply just about anything you'd want.

Cheers Mr E. Not sure what engine it is but I'll pass on Fensport to him and see if they can source anything.

They'll source anything he wants. He might end up with quite a bill however.

If you can find out what engine he needs, I'll have a sniff about.

You could always try these guys. I haven't used them myself but Celica owners swear by them.

I have only ever had to enquire about an engine once before, but I found www.findanengine.co.uk very helpful. And cheap.

In the end I didn't need it (sold the car instead!!) but the guy offered next day delivery, inc in the price!!!

HTH

(I also found fensport very helpful with all of my Toyota based queries.)

MrE, do you reckon Ian Smith would be able to help??? God of the GT4 I know, but surely his expertise can strech to Gen 7's??

I'm actually dropping the car off with him tonight. I can but ask.

We're still not utterly sure what engine our friend is after, but if it's a 1ZZ or a 2ZZ, Ian can't help.

If you want a 3S-GTE, he's your boy.

Oh, and I had a poke around his car on Sunday for about an hour. I don't want to say too much, but I suspect it's going to be very very special indeed.

Last time I saw it (about Febuary!!), it was a half primered shell, and a shiney 3S-GTE with a BIG turbo sat on a engine stand, so I can only imagine what it must be like now.

That could prove an interesting conversion???

Sorry, still don't know myself. I'm out of the country just now and the missus isn't getting back to me on this (it's a friend of hers).

I passed on the links posted but I'll be talking to her tonight and I'll ask if she has found out yet.
