Hi PHs,

I have a vehicle arriving from Japan soon (R32 Skyline) and I'm having trouble with arranging insurance. I've been advised for the vehicle to be insured that a Cat s5 or cat s7 tracker needs to be installed and a cat 1 alarm.

The only system I can find which seems to both is this one:
https://www.trackershop-uk.com/scorpion-s5-plus-ca...

Which is a bit pricey.

For those of you have imported older vehicles, which security do you have installed and who is your car insurer?

Cheers.

Ive got nothing on my R32 GTR with Admiral

I think its a classic policy if that makes any difference

I think the barrier seems to be that the vehicle is a fresh import and won't have a UK numberplate until registration and MOT etc has been completed.

I had my RX7 fitted with a Clifford 650 and a Trident Tracker before I collected it.

They might suit your requirements but you just need to find a place to install them. I am pretty sure many places can.

I didn't need to have them installed to get insurance though. I went through Keith Michaels, maybe give them a try.

Thanks for the responses both.
I've managed to get insurance sorted.

The minimum requirement seems to be Thatcham cat 1 alarm.
I think I'm going to have a tracker installed also.
