Gents,

Just ordered 4 shiny drilled and grooved discs and EBC Greenstuff pads. Anyone used these pads before? What do you reckon?

Also gone for a set of braided hoses - maybe at least now I'll be able to "stop" quickly even if I can't "go" quickly!

I have found that the standard discs last longer and stop just as well as the EBC ones, and Red Stuff pads are the best. Braided hoses are definitely worth it though

Redstuff are the way to go
had lots of probs with my greenstuff pads... pad material left on the discs etc etc etc

Not used them but the Hawk race pads (HT-10's) work nicely

Drilled discs are exactly that, Especially the black diamond ones, they take the standard discs, put grooves in them and then drill them, thus increasing their chance of cracking. EBC ones have little dimples that don't go all the way through, I think they are made like that, rather than being drilled after. They will be fine but i'd seriously recommend red stuff pads over green stuff, and ignore anyone who says they won't work from cold as mine work fine.

Even though I am not a 'gent' I will answer anyway.

I have heard a few negative comments on greenstuff, but it really does depend on the make of car (I know they do not suit scoobies).

I use EBC redstuff on mine.

As long as the brakes work well and stop the car, then don't worry.

Yeah the EBC pads aren't "drilled", they are dimpled, my mistake.

I've heard arguments about the greenstuff pads. Aparrently they weren't great, but they changed the compound and they are now much better.

As discussed, I'd avoid drilled. Slotted are fine.

Greenstuff pads are dangerous on my car, such is their crappyness.

Braided lines, DBC discs and TRD pads made my brakes hugely nicer to use, if perhaps not any more effective.

I am now using Ferodo DS-2500 on Grooved 335mm Disc's They are a bit dusty but boy do they stop!! and they keep stopping however hard you try to melt them. well worth it.

I have used greenstuff pads on various discs with quite a few cars in the past.

As other's have said the drilled or grooved-and-drilled discs are known to warp or crack very prematurely.

Stock discs or grooved discs are fine.

The greenstuff pads provide only a little more bite from cold over stock pads but once warm are about the same. The only advantage over using them in place of stock (or OEM equivalent) is they tend not to dust up as much. Greenstuff pads do not squeel unless installed incorrectly (i.e lack of anti-squeel shims, too little/no copper grease or low pad indicator springs installed wrong way around).

Best combination if you have the cash would be Black Diamond discs and Pagid Fast Road pads
