My beloved little citroen is soon to go and something new will soon be wanted, work n money permitting.
Current favourite is an Elise but, I have just spotted an R32 GTR for about £9000 and have to say it is tempting.
It is from Calder Motor Company, they provide parts and labour warrenty for 12 months.
It's got around 400ps (would prefer original but can't find).
It is in a deep red metallic which is q, nice.

So ?s

What are they like to keep running, costs, effort etc.
How is insurance on modded imports? I am 25 with no points or claims and 2yrsNCB (if i get to next month safely!)

Am i better looking for a standard one ie there is a standard R33 V spec for £10k private.

Thanks in advance.

Go & have a look over on the drifting forums, where they get well & truly used www.driftworks.co.uk you'll find they are incredibly well built with only minor issues.

You can pick up an original tidy one for 6K if you know where to look

Basically bombroof except for the heads & valve gear that give issues, also some probs with the throttle bodies on worn cars. Everything else is straightforward.

Mail me if your looking for one or want more info.

Oil changes should be done every 6000 miles, although alot are done earlier, cam belt is every 40,000 miles I think, 50 quid of super unleaded on a 400 bhp car should last about 220-250 miles on a cruise, alot less if doing trackdays often. I pay just over £1100 for a 420bhp car with all mods declared, am 33 with a ban for speeding 3 years ago, no points.

R32 is the better "drivers" car as its slightly lighter and has less electronic interference in the driving experience. A number of 33 and 34 owners I know have swapped their cars for a 32 as they want the excitment that is diluted with the newer types.

Cheers for that advice (and others) Unfortunately the one i wanted to look at has gone but the kinf folks responded very quickly and said they could source a good standardish R32 pretty quick if i want.
Uncertainty surrounding my finances might put it on hold for a while but i will let you all know when the time comes.
