The mad-turbo-nutter-mobile was one of the things that Japan did well. Fast as fook, but on an obscenely cheap budget, (compared with exotic type stuff that cost a fortune). Why the buggery don't they put a turbo/supercharged/heck, even the 190 engine into the MR2? Why don't they have an awd celica turbo/supercharged celica? As for Nissan... the 350 is a nice car, but its not exactly the turbo nutter job it should be.
Te new supra looks fantastic, but the Skyline GT-r looks like it will be a big power monster, BUT its looks like a friggin Primera! They have them here as Infiniti G35's, and they are not nice looking cars. They are bastardised 350's.

The Japs have sht themselves in the foot.

The 2008 skyline has a lot of the 350z/G-35 about it appearance wise too.

Thats what I said dude. The skyline is already over here in the guise of the Infiniti G-35, which looks like a bloody primera! The arse end looks hideous!

yes.. BUT, there's a change of designation...

they're carrying on the skyline purely as it was origionally in japan.. a luxury(ish) saloon.. hence the G35 (based on 350Z floorpan etc)

their new 'hot' car will simply be the GTR.. no skyline in it's name.... and I believe, not just a re-hash of the same 350z base, it'll be a proper whole car of it's own...

at least that's what I've heard...

Ignore any pictures you see of the Skyline/GT-R concept. The GT-R will be a souped up Skyline/G35... Maybe a differnt shell, and engine, etc. But it will be a G-25, or whatever

The official line from MAzda abotu a replacement RX-7 was that they'd have to see what the outcome of RX-8 sales were and, if good, they'd produce a new rotary sports car.

As the 8 has been much more successful than expected it bodes well but the success might delay the next 7 a bit. It's apparently well underway though and is likely to be a bigger version of the renesis (1.6 as opposed to 1.3). Possibly bigger capacity forced induction with higher compression rotors. Platform sharing with the 8 (but wider track) would help keep costs sensible.

I'd be suprised if they'll produce something as moisteningly beautiful as the FD again though although it'd be nice if they did.

There's a new Supra, RX-7, GTR and NSX (HSC) in the pipeline. I don't think the Japanese supercar is dead just yet

What about the new pint pot sized hatch back rally cars, due in a year or so? I think subaru / evo engines in a 4x4 hatch will be untouchable! I can't wait - they will be the four wheel equivalents of superbikes

I just saw a brief mag article outlining the plans. Mitsubishi and Subaru will stop making full sized rally cars soon, as they have trouble trouncing the smaller pugs etc. The cars in theory should be cheaper too. Obviously the power to weight will be better. Anyone else have any links or info?
