JDM prices falling. Russia, sanctions.
Discussion
I found this article interesting. Unlikely to effect the iconic/halo cars but it might make a lot of stuff better value.

I've been looking for a JDM vehicle for ages - does anyone in UK still import them?
If you check places like Torque gt etc etc. they have none for sale only supposedly 'IN TRANSIT' and want you to pay a huge deposit and wait month's for delivery - No THANKS
They have plenty for sale (and my old one). A lot of their cars will go straight to customers and not even hit the showroom. And prices are still high in Japan. No effect on a car you want to bring over here. I’ve been looking for an Alpina and they are double the price of a UK spec one to bring over. If you check places like Torque gt etc etc. they have none for sale only supposedly 'IN TRANSIT' and want you to pay a huge deposit and wait month's for delivery - No THANKS

The main point of importing is to get a car that fits your specs. I used Torque GT in 2020 and only had to pay £500 to start the auction searches. Once the car was confirmed I paid another £2k with the remainder due on arrival. If you're importing you will normally have to wait months as the deregistration, shipping and UK registration takes a while. The longest part of the entire process for me was waiting for the DVLA to register it! For what it's worth, Torque were great with me through the process. If you check places like Torque gt etc etc. they have none for sale only supposedly 'IN TRANSIT' and want you to pay a huge deposit and wait month's for delivery - No THANKS
Torque GT do occasionally have cars in their showroom for sale but the majority of people use the import service instead.
I;ve been looking for a car too - ever since the wife bought a blademaster 18 month's ago - SFA available, I want to see a decent choice of different vehicles available to drive away today, The Torque GT thing only works if you know precisely what you want, and trust them to deliver what you ask for- I don;t trust any slimy car dealer to do this And find it hard to believe any one would.

To be fair, id not use Torque GT as I imported a car myself and found that it really wasn't that hard.I do however know three people who have used Torque GT and all if their cars are in very good condition and the transaction went smoothly. One mate had originally contacted them for a DC5 but took a CL7 Euro R accord that was in transit and a buyer had pulled out. It's always worth asking them what they have in transit and if any buyers maybe having second thoughts.
As for prices, the interesting stuff is still sky high. Even more common vehicles like Toyota Mk X , Nissan Fugas an other V6/luxo barges that were barely a grand or two a couple of years ago are still loitering around 5k now☹️

You two better stick with the Eurotrash that's foisted on us then.
I've used them twice and received great service each time - both my cars were better than anything I've bought here. As for having to "wait months" you do know that Japan is other side of the planet right?

I've just brought a car from Japan, using Be Forward. Initially, I was told there was a 2/3 month delay...but I have just been given a shipping date of this Friday, with an ETA of 20th June in Southampton. If you check places like Torque gt etc etc. they have none for sale only supposedly 'IN TRANSIT' and want you to pay a huge deposit and wait month's for delivery - No THANKS
Not seen any real change in prices though.
If you want a JDM car you have to accept it's not as straightforward as buying an EDM car, but it really isn't that challenging.

Have you used Beforward in the past? Some incredibly good deals on there from time to time. The fact there is no third party grading system is the thing that puts me off
First time, but they have a good reputation, no issues so far either and the car is now on the ship en route. My car was auction grade 4 inside and out, there was a photo of the auction sheet in the original ad…quite a few seem to have auction sheet photos included when I was looking.chasdad said:
