what are they all about? looking through the autotrader i have noticed they are relativly cheap, you can get either a 2.5 twin turbo or a stonking 4.0 v8, with tidy examples going for around 5k, but one thing is confusing me, were they ever a UK car?, if so which one, the lexus badged or toyota ?, Is it a good buy? dificulty of servicing?

any help on the matter will be much appreciated.

Never a UK car. Its not really a Lexus, its a Toyota. It may have been called a Lexus in US, but these are from Jap so are Toyotas. IIRC some dealer got in trouble for labelling it an a Lexus. Servicing shouldn't be too complicated, I think some official dealers will do it too. There are plenty around for specialists to service so you should be okay. Parts might be pricey as will fuel. The 4.0 litre version is the best specced, but most pricey too. Never driven so don't know characteristics. Seems a bit of a barge too me, but should be bullet proof.

the 2.5 tt has 280bhp stock with the 4 v8 has quite alot less, but has all the goodies, never a uk car, the v8 got was in the top 10 engines of all time, the 2.5 tt would be the one to go for if you wanted to mod it, plenty of help on the mkiii supra sites

I've got a MR2 Turbo as well m8, I can appreciate how they sometimes leave you wanting something a little more comfortable.

The Soarer is a popular car to modify in Japan, where it is used as a drift car; it makes a pretty good one, seems the basic suspension is good once you lower and stiffen it, and the twin-turbo straight six can put out pretty much as much power as you want. Looks great too with 18" forgies, body kit, slammed to the ground, going around corners sideways at ridiculous speeds! Perhaps not quite what Toyota intended but would be good fun anyway.
