in trouble now!

got caught being VERY silly and VERY stupid at 119mph on the A130 in essex back in May. got the court summons letter on saturday when i was praying they'd forgotten me as i've learnt my lesson and been VERY good since! slowest MR2 turbo in essex now :D

anyway i guess i'll just face the punishment like a grown man, just a matter of how much and how long you taking my licence, i shoulda learnt the first time, was lucky then with 3 points and £60 fine! damn me and my steep learning curve.

save you're speed for the track people trust me! :(

Word of advice. Use the available court lawyer person. I was done for 130 and the court lawyer chap got the punishment down from 6 months and 300 quid (which was a damn site less than anticipated), to 3 months, and 600 quid! Luckily I dod my ban while working at sea, so had no effect whatsoever... You WILL be banned. No 2 ways about it.

Bummer.

I better be more careful too, I was speed testing my MR2 on the M11 the other night, well it was quiet, given the readership of this site aren't always non plod.... I decided not to take it up to 130mph just for fun

Sorry to hear this,'fraid AndyMac is right a ban is pretty much mandatory.Take advice from any legal rep that you can.

Anyway -I'm have a very dull morning so far.So purely in the spirit of entertainment,I/we would never condone speeding
------------------------------------------------------
Application of speed is something of a problem isn't it its a tricky one.
What do we have to defend with in our arsenal?

1) Gatso det's work reliably but are expensive. Also only really useful if travelling away from ones usual area/routes,'coz you know where all the local scameras are don'tcha? Lazer detectors tend to be unreliable & too slow to be of much help.

2)The modified 'garage door opener' as a diffuser is illegal. Some seem to get away with it using the odd 'legal grey area' & ignorance approach.(most interested if anyone has any diffuser'upgrade'ideas-purely for research purposes!)

3)Safecam org will tell you where & when Mobile scamera units are positioned on given dates. For sites in your locale try this site:
http://ukgatso1.fxsonet.com/links/safecam.htm

4)A pair of look-out eyes is always handy.Unfortunately they ,mostly, fall off the roof at any speed.

5)Shame C.B radio is no longer popular,Ten-four-big buddy-rubber-ducky-eyeball-eyeball & all that.
could be a really valuable tool,seriously.Real-time 'road conditions' could be passed on for everyones benefit.Someone really ought see about getting it going again.

5)Always,always carry a bag of do-nuts. Apart from 1-to-1 'gift' situations,if in a car chase you could bung 'em out the window-works better that a spike strip!Get sugar sprinkled ones as they reflect headlights better-makes 'em easier to find if they bounce into the verge.

Anyone else have any real or imagined ideas?

sorting a laywer out this week, court date is Sept 12th. can't believe one moment of stupid-ness can be so harsh. i seemed to think it was a good idea to nail the last mile to my turn off but nope that's a VERY bad idea as i found out!

just a matter of how long and how much!

someone say they offer a laywer? my forms don't mention that i don't think? i better go over them in detail this weekend i guess.

getting to and from where i work is gonna be a right pain in the butt! 30min car drive is 2hrs 30mins by the crap public transport!
still as people have said i kinda should have thought of that.

can afford up to £1500 for my insurance so fingers crossed it won't go that high for me!

not speeded since as i've been far to scared to and all i think about now is getting caught again when in the car so i guessed it's done it's job and slowed me down.

love the MR2 turbo, great car i can't bare to sell it!

Get your brief to do it for a fixed fee. Take your full account (incl all relevant mitigation, natch, details of your dear old mum's illness etc) in writing to your appointment.Get written proof from employer etc as to effect of ban. You can't rely on the court duty brief, who can't actually deal with non-imprisonable cases. If you can make a reasonable case for innocent people (relatives, work colleagues etc) suffering from a long ban, a decent brief should be able to keep the ban down. But unless you're old bill, a ban is , sadly, totally inevitable

Sorry to hear of your problems mate

I got caught not so long ago in my MR2 T. I was doing 40 on the 40mph dual carriage way (sunny day, perfect vision etc etc,) Learner driver infront of me is doing about 32 so I pull into the right hand lane having put my foot down (a bit) to safely move into the outside line RIGHT infront of the bloody mobile camera 53 in a 40 = 3 points

Perhaps theres something to arguing it was the MR2 as they are clearly PRONE to such activities and it's not the drivers fault in anyway.... perhaps not

Anyhow I hope it work out as best as is possible, given the circumstances and hope you keep the 2, perhaps "tart it up" a little whilst it's off the road even ?

In my local paper on Friday - 105mph, 5 points, £300 fine.

I doubt you'll get away with that; but just a ray of hope - they aren't as harsh as they used to be...

I'm looking to develop a homing missile that can be hidden in the car and fires out 007-style when it detects a laser/ radar signal.

Seriously.

To the thread starter, bad luck mate you will be looking at a substantial ban I think.

the mag's are funny ers, dishing out punishment at random. One guy got a harsher punishment for speeding than another guy who was uninsured, no licence, no mot and was drunk! (in BFP)

Fingers crossed you'll get lucky mate, I got stopped 2 years ago for a little over 85 in a 40 and walked away with 3 points and the £40.00 fine...

Although not over the ton, thought was in deep sh*t.
One thing to watch out for is whether they go for dangerous driving due to speed, that carries a custodial sentence if unlucky.

Hope all goes as well as can be expected, we have all done it and sometimes still do....
