Hello Jap chatters:D
A mate of mine is looking for a fun roadster, and the MR2 was near the top of the list, however he felt it was fun but slightly underpowered, 138bhp?, so i mentioned that engine might be the same as the 190bhp Celica unit which would be a bit faster;) He got quite excited and started asking loads of questions that i couldn`t answer but i said i might know some body who did...................................................... You guys :D
Is it the same engine? can it be converted? any web site links? Gazboy looks favourite:D

As said above, its a different engine, pretty much the only thing that is similar is the displacement! (1ZZ-FE vs 2ZZ-GE)

The conversion has been done before though, apparently the most difficult part of the whole thing is getting the different ECU to work on the roadster.

Personally I would have a roadster in a min.....

thinking.........

Yep I would.

p.s. - I dont cut hair (for under a tenner)

I've just changed my CTR for a roadster, it's 60odd horse short of the old car and it has sod all storage space.

but

It's a great drive, the lowish power output isn't a problem on the road as it's not a traffic light grand prix car.

The 03 on car seems to have had a good deal of improvement on the body and handling front, so much to say that A road driving is making me smile more than my manic civic did. TTE and Haas do turbo conversions that will see the car upto around 200bhp and the newer 6 speed box spreads the power out nicely.

looks better than the MX-5 too

All UK sold cars have the LSD, it's just that it wasn't as well publicised until the facelift version came out.

I had a Roadster for a couple of years. I upgraded to the S2000 because Toyota refuse to release the 2ZZ-GE engine in the back of it. I know there's at least one conversion kicking about in the UK and a couple in the US. Shame as i always felt it could handle more power.

I don't regret getting the S2000 even if the engine is in the wrong place.

TTE were not planning a turbo ASFAIK, I believed it was a SC, but there were mounting difficulties due to the size of the engine bay.
