Hi I recently had MAF replaced on my Terrano as it kept stalling. Engine light is still on and mechanic thniks Crankshaft position sensor is the next thing to replace. 3rd party ones do not fit, so it has to be main dealer part. £450 was quoted for this part (!)

Car is running OK ish, would a second hand part be OK?

I can get them off Ebay for £50 ish.

its a low mileage (36k) and in good condition so I want to spend money on the car, but that seems to much for just a senosr (It is a ball ache to fit as well, so will be a good copuple of hundred on top for labour)

Thoughts pls

Hey chaps - update.

I bit the bullet and bought a new Crankshaft Position sensor, and had the garage fit it - along with an alternator belt which was worn.

Engine light has gone and car has seemed pretty sweet since then - fingers crossed!
