Go Away!

How come everyone except me can afford to own one of these?

More seriously - welcome Chris! There's folk on here who are absolute fountains of MRT knowledge. No serious driver should be without!

Edited to Add - Does your tax disk say "Passengers travel at own risk"?

yep used to spam the forums with........ well unrelated non-MR2 crap, mainly ebay links

still they were the good old days, barely get 10mins a week on there now but i'm still on there, have been for 2 years ish now.

they have an off topic section in the forum now so i'm normally in there

I got pissed off with IMOC in the end- too much infighting, egos and aggro. The dude who bitched about being stuck on the M1 last year wound me up- a fecking spare is not going to make any difference to a 1/4 mile time.

In house egos & (usually) petty squabbles ruin loads of good car clubs.Similar thing happened over at UJCC last year, ended up with the club splitting, the 2 parts then fighting over who joins which faction-& how many members they can poach from each other etc & all the cr@p politics which went with it.Ruined a worthwhile club that was friendly, had regular meets, events, trackdays etc.Really pretty sad & pathetic.

Some clubs take themselves far too seriously. MR2DC, and IMOC to a degree were like this, when I went there, anyway. There were certain 'fountains of knowledge' that would belittle people, and if posts were even remotely 'off-topic' they would be removed. It sort of defeated the object of having a club, where peeps met up, and had fun in cars. They ended up being a place where you went to ask how to fit an alternator, rather than like Pistonheads, where it is more of a place to go to chill out, and read some funny, clever, technical, stuff. Thats why a few of us went off and started MR2OC. (Well.. never owned the site, or nowt, but were founder member type things, along with Jeff, Graham Day, Screech, Colin Mason, etc). We had a sort of set up like Pistonheads, where off topic things were the mainstay, and MR2 stuff was just what brought everyone together. In fact, My JAE experience was the first official event we arranged as MR2OC. We had fun, and not once did we insert sticks in our arses!

Yup. Money well spent. And yu got those pathetic little magazines that were the basis of the membership. The club board were too short sighted to realise that the internet forum thingy was where people went. hey could not care less about the magazines, and its articles on 'how to get spiders out of your mirrors', (that was a serious topic by the way!). The visits to stately homes, and glass bowing museums, were not really car related. The internet forum was merely a 'technical Q&A' and anything other than that was removed. Even technical questions were removed if it involved other parties. It was so dumb!
