Hi All,

Has anyone had any experience with Lexus IS350, I have imported from Japan as a replacement for my 140i.

Big change from a hot hatch to a more subdued entry saloon.

I'm considering going the other way! Well from an IS250. I've found my Lexus less 'sporty' than a 5 series (E39 manual) in particular the steering and braking but as your M140i also has electric steering you might not notice too much difference. Weirdly, I think it feels like a much heavier car.

I've seen IS350 imports on ebay every now and then and wondered if they are worth the upgrade. A brief look around the American lexus forums seem to think they are.

Believe they are the same engine as my Crown with the 2GR-FSE? Odd that there are 3 different 0-60 times listed here think that is a Toyota special as they've been known to do it with other cars.

Anyway engine itself is great, nice and smooth with a good load of torque - mine is equally happy tootling around town as hauling itself at great pace down a sliproad smile In terms of sportiness I think the Lexus might be quite soft due to where it's marketed, in the Crown with my sport and PWR modes engaged on I can hustle it at a fair old lick though never with much in the way of steering feel.

Cant go wrong with a M140i, the B58 is brilliant. I was looking at an IS250 but I like my cars with roughly 300bhp but was conscious of reliability.

How reliable was your Lexus?

Yes, I think you'd have found it too much of a step down!

Don't think you have much to worry about reliability wise, but rust might be an issue. Not structural just on consumables. Exhausts seem prone to rot and despite getting my car with a full dealer service history the front brake slider pins barely allowed any caliper movement when I took it for the first MOT a year after purchase. But replaced with stainless pins and high temp grease they've stayed fine for 4 years.
