Just bought Evo 6?

Welcome to what seems to be a pretty rare club! I've owned my Evo 6 Extreme for about 11 years, and can probably count on one hand the amount of times I've passed a fellow 6 owner out on the road!
I have a pretty similar car to yours, I’ve had it since 2000, I think I spot almost anything of interest that’s within eyesight and In can honestly say I don’t remember the last time I saw another one on the road.I test drove a GR Yaris recently and the 20 something salesman told me that “EVOs were good in their day”............ who told him that?

How did the Yaris compare to the 6? Would you say it's a worthy successor? I test drove a GR Yaris recently and the 20 something salesman told me that “EVOs were good in their day”............ who told him that?
A pal of mine did some internet check and told me there were only 230 odd 6's left registered on UK roads and that was a few years ago. Rare beasts indeed. I love mine more than I really should!

Hi, everyone seems to think they are a car reviewer nowadays and I don’t want to sound like a nob but..... no, not really!A pal of mine did some internet check and told me there were only 230 odd 6's left registered on UK roads and that was a few years ago. I also have a Clio 182 Cup which I love, I wrongly assumed the Yaris would be the perfect mix of my Clio and my 6 but it wasn’t!
When I first got an EVO I was worried that it was a bit big / “salooney” coming from an Integrales but it never has, I expected / hoped the Yaris would be more raw, it was almost too “substantial”, I LOVE the “flimsey” feeling of the Clio and EVO, they add to the experience / sensation
Other than the slightly too grown up feel, I didn’t quite know where I was with front end grip in the wet, I didn’t like the weight transfer when altering my line on medium to higher speed curves.
I thought the engine was very good but I didn’t like the way the revs didn’t decay quick enough, engaging the next gear at the redline gave a little push forwards, as did downshifts (you know how cars like Mondeos and Vectras did in the 90s to protect mechanicals?)
When I lift the throttle I want it to be DEAD, not push on a tiny bit!
The view through the info screen and the mirror would be a real PITA if you were driving quickly mile after mile somewhere like the Alps where you are looking for kerbs, trenches, apexes etc
I was sure I’d want the Yaris!
Completely get what you're saying there about the car reviewer thing, Don, but I think you are the fist I've come across who has driven the Yaris coming from a ton of experience with Evos so thanks for that.
Seems to be the nets new hero this Yaris. Certainly looks the real deal but yeh, the throttle lift would annoy the crap out of me to along with the other gripes you point out.
I'll give one a try at some point in the future but for now I'll keep the older car.
Cheers.

And it can sound like you are repeating what credible reviewers have said to make yourself sound knowledgeable!
I’m sure the Lichfield kit sorts the suspension issue out 100% (but I actually like the higher stance of the standard car)
The throttle thing could be me being super picky but I have another car that does it too and I really can’t stand it and I haven’t been able to get it mapped out either!

Sorry about the tangent Daviekiwi, hopefully it will confirm that you’ve made a great choice!
Thanks for that, loving it so far? it has a bit of drama about it when your out for a drive. It has a much lighter, tinny feel than my e46 M3, but i think that add's to the experience!

I’ve had an E46 M3 and E46 CSL, The truth is that it’s the regular M3 I have the warmer memories about, the ridculous sideways and great all round car, but it’s a car that’s great up to 7/10ths, EVOs are ordinary up to 7/10ths and from then on you can’t believe how capable they are from there on!It has a much lighter, tinny feel than my e46 M3, but i think that add's to the experience!
One of the things that gives me GREAT pleasure is lifting the lid of the centre console glove box of my EVO and letting the stty lid fall so I can enjoy the lightness of it!
I had pretty much your combination and really enjoyed the contrast, I’d have another E46 M3!
Evo looks very nice, the 6 is my favourite of them.
There is a Enkei multi spoke that looks very much like a super T and these came on Evo 7

I'm not keen the wheels? got a standard set of Oz super turismo on the way.
The original wheels for the car would be branded as OZ F1 but are actually made under licence by Enkei in Japan. They are 17x7.5.There is a Enkei multi spoke that looks very much like a super T and these came on Evo 7
