This dare I say shabby 1985 Toyota Corolla GT-S with 112,000 miles just sold in the US on Bring a Trailer for $40,000 (£30,000)....I must be too old to 'get it', anyone care to educate me why? I read the comments, seems the fact that it was never 'modded' makes it a unicorn. confused

Same as ratty Ford Escorts selling for big money. Older men nostalgic for the cars of their youth. Add to this the drift scene holding the AE86 as legendary and the Initial D fans. Certainly unmolested makes it a unicorn.

At least that one appears in excellent condition with almost a tenth of the mileage.

Great condition no doubt and I'm sure it's fun to drive, but that's the price of a brand new GR Yaris and still wanting another £7k on top of that. No, just no.

Hachi Roku!

EA86 Corollas are worth very strong money and in fairness, it was a brilliant car. Also the only car that was available as a FWD or a RWD car at the same time. FWD versions have long since faded away.

Most of ours ended up in Ireland, converted to tarmac rally cars, before their values increased.

Fond memories of them.

All of my ones went to Ireland. My Dads one got shoved down the road by a lorry.

Wish I still had them now banghead
