I’m putting some serious consideration towards importing a Honda S660.

I’m speaking to Torque GT, but wondered if anyone had used anyone else to import a car recently and would recommend?

Torque would be pretty solid. S660 looks awesome, still pricey though

I expect needing IVA will up the price a bit too, never done it, but if anyone can, itll be Torque. There doesnt appear to be a model report for the s660 listed at the DVLA

TorqueGT have brought a white one over previously so they should hopefully be well placed to get another through all the necessary tests.

I have bought my S660 over last Feb through Torque GT. Took me quite sometime for one to pop up within budget and spec.

With S660 completely sold out now with the new announcement of it being discontinued next year, I hope the used market haven't gone crazy. It was expensive even without that news last year.

Both times ive imported from Japan ive gone direct to an auction agent in japan. Theres more hoops to jump through and more risk but the savings are significant.

Based on grade 4 without huge miles, you are looking at about £13k imported yourself for a S660

Thats not including any extra IVA guff that Ive never done. Ive only ever done through the 10+ years stuff

What would the stages be for importing one yourself?
Torque GT are wanting around £18k, which is too steep for me.
If I could do it for £13k on the road I’d go for it!

I would say that's bang on what I work it out as. Not insignificant IVA costs though, you won't be £13k otr unless you get a poor grade car or are exceptionally lucky.

Its around £13k based on my usual calcs on the costs from importing ive done, but without the IVA costs (really dont know)

You'll also need a bit of cash to get it roadworthy, usually tyres and service as a minimum of course, but the IVA is a complete unknown for me. I should try it sometime.

Hi,

Just spotted this thread and wanted to comment, as a few days ago I finally took delivery of my lovely new S660.

I did it with Torque GT who were excellent throughout. Process started last August, won at auction in October, three months at sea, three months of UK modifications, IVA, MOT, etc, and was ready at the end of March.

I paid less than the £18k you mentioned, for a 2016 model, with 38k kilometres on the clock.

It's such a lovely little thing to own, drive, and just to look at. I'd definitely recommend it!

Can you remember about what's needed to happen for the IVA please? I've only done 10yr+ stuff so haven't paid much attention to that side of things, but there's something I'd be very interesting in getting over before it's 10yrs old.

I'm afraid not, as this was all done by Torque GT, not me.

Do it for science Tommo, or just for the rest of us smile

I expect it wont be so bad, but always put off by the few horror stories you hear on this forum and others of a couple of times someone imports something relatively rare and they cant get it through the IVA for some reason.

Yeah Axeboy, when speaking to TorqueGT about it they've always been very discouraging, but I've read the pdf on IVA-ing M1 passenger vehicles and it doesn't look that bad.

I think the only problem area is going to be the speedo/dash (it's digital in the car) so trying to get it to read in MPH/odo in miles is going to very hard - but then everyone says that emissions is another sticking point however the Crown I'd like is better than the current Lexus LS500h (which it shares the drivetrain with), so not sure why the IVA place can't accept data from that car.

Suspect it's to stop us importing great cars from Japan instead of the dross we get foisted on us over here winklaugh

Yeah, bit of a fear factor going on

Maybe one day we'll take the leap, its those random unknowns that I hear about, glass, emissions etc
