Mrs BaldPuma has a 2015 Mazda 3, on which the touchscreen has started ghosting, going crazy with a mind of its own. Having done some research it's a common problem, and Mazda North America even extended the warranty for 2014-2016 cars to cover this problem - no such luck in the UK though.

Having spoken to my local main dealer, they want an £80 diagnostic fee (all they will need to do is watch the touchscreen for 10 seconds) and they will then make a case to Mazda UK to pay for the work. So we may be left with no contribution from Mazda, and a huge diagnostic fee.

I can imagine a replacement unit will be pricey, and it's not a big enough problem to put a load of money into - the touchscreen disables when the car is moving so it's only annoying when stationary.

Has anyone had the same or similar problems and had any luck from Mazda? I want to see whether it's worth going down this rabbit hole!

Thanks

Our 2016 CX-5 has a glitchy media system , it powers up multiple times before staying on.
Unfortunately I can’t offer any answers for you but agree that it seems common so am interested to see if there any solutions available from Mazda for cars outside of warranty.

I recommend contacting Mazda. Ive got a wing mirror issue with my 2015 3, and Mazda UK said take it to local dealer for a check and if a known issue will pay for complete replacement. They seem keen to help make the customer journey as pleasant as possible...so far...

Cheers Guys. Toastman - when you say contact Mazda, who exactly do you mean? And how? All my own cars are older so I never deal with main dealers/manufacturers
