Mitsubishi 2.3 DI-D Mivec
Discussion
Sorry, boring diesel content....
Looking at buying an Outlander, the previous generation ~2011 with the 2.3di-d mivec engine.
I know it’s had several applications across the Mitsubishi range in the Lancer and L200 but there’s minimal info on line about it.
I know it’s a cam chain so oil changes in the history will be crucial. But there’s very little info about failures or things to look out for. I’m hoping this is a good thing and indicates it’s a strong unit, but just wondering if anyone has any experiences, good or bad.
TIA.

Most of these had the 2.0 VAG diesel (140 bhp?). I don’t think many got the Mitsubishi engine. I ran a Peugeot 4007 (same car underneath and mostly on top) with the PSA 2.2 diesel for a few years and it was a good car. The 2.2 is torquier and more powerful (155) than the VAG engine and I think made for the better car.
Sorry, that doesn’t really answer your question but when researching I don’t remember any particular pitfalls of the 2.3.
