Call me a chav if you must, but I quite like how they look! :paperbag:

Might even look into buying one if I get desperate...

(I am realllllllly so fed up of the MR2s lack of pace)!

Chav!

I toyed with the idea of an Impreza instead of the tubby, but I wasnt a great fan of the image and the insurance was histerical!

What's the price range? And will you be modifying it?

I believe the pre 96 cars offer a better price/performance ratio - they're more tunable too (and I have bags of tuning parts for sale since my girlfriend killed mine... )

The MY97 to 98 cars are more difficult to tune beyond a certain level - as the ECU can't be remapped, but the suspension and handling is a little more refined.

If you've got plenty of cash, then look for a GOOD MY99 or MY00 STi. These tend to have slightly better interiors and a stronger engine. As a rule, you pay for condition.

Check for evidence of a remap if you buy a jap import car. Jap fuel is higher octane than ours, so it's possible to lose an engine EASILY in these cars in the UK. A remap usually fixes this if it's been done in the UK. (If it's been done in Japan it can make the problem worse)

I currently have a MY99 STi RA 555 limited edition, and it simply is the best Impreza I've driven. (I had a MY96 UK car before this, and have driven 15 to 20 different turbo Imprezas)
