GTO TWIN TURBO
Discussion
Hey,
Just a general question, my old man has a Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo 1992 (the model whereby the lights come up). Long Story short he has been unable to drive it for the past few years so its not moved from his garage and currently doesn't start although it did used to run fine.
Is this car worth spending some money on to get up and running and will it be worth anything?
Online prices seem to be a little misleading and all other the place.
I'm going to get some info like mileage etc but it wont have a lot as it was used just a weekend car and I don't think she has even seen rain before.
Any advice or opinions be much appreciated.

I have never owned one so this is more opinion based on what I have read from other people.
The Mitsubishi GTO was packed with tech, a bit ahead of its time. If i remember correctly, 4 wheel steering, active aero etc. 25 years on this means that there is a lot to go wrong on a very complicated base. Just lift the bonnet and you'll see how packed the massive engine bay is. IMO this is why the prices have been quite low for them, as they could be very costly.
But on the flip side, it isn't all about money. Almost all of the Jap car shows I've been to have a very enthusiastic set of GTO owners where it is definitely a passion project for those who enjoy them, and while they are quite heavy I think they have positive reviews. Being your old man's car it could be a lot of fun trying to get it back on the road, and they may even go up in value
