I know Mazda has had some issues with diesel engines in the past but are the newer Skyactiv 2.2 turbo diesels from around 2015 onwards generally trouble free providing they are serviced regularly and given a decent run at least every couple of weeks?

Thanks.

I had a 2014 one as a company car, kept it for about 18 months before changing jobs. I covered about 40k in it, entirely trouble free, very quiet and a nice place for long journeys. I found the suspension a tad stiff though and certainly nowhere near as forgiving as the Mondeo I had prior to that. It did handle alright though, the energy recover system was quite cool and seemed to work which resulted in low company car tax. I had an estate version and it wasn't as big as the Mondeo estate I had, if space important to you. Both boot and rear seat space wasn't as good.

Overall though a great car, cheap in tax, reliable and good all round. I know there's reported issues with the 2.2D however I suffered no problems at all, with anything in fact bar bluetooth dropping which was cured with a software update.

Thanks for that, I'm no stranger to Mazda but the two 6's I've had in the past have both been the 2.0 petrol. I like the new shape 6 but the petrol ones seem a bit rare. What's the interior build like? Also do they have ambient lighting in the cabin?

One I had seemed nice inside, had one of the comfiest armrests I've ever had in any car hehe

The FL ones are a bit nicer inside, which I think is what you're looking at? They have the screen stuck out from the dash, rather than encased within the dash. The one I had was encased with a Tomtom sat nav system integrated, all worked fine but was a bit basic. I did have a FL as a courtesy car once and the infotainment system seemed much better and the interior a bit nicer.

Most of the 6 will be the 150PS 2.2D because they made great company cars, being low emissions so low on company car tax, whilst still being well equipped and nice to drive. The petrol made little sense for company car users.

Yeah, the one I've seen does have the ipad blu-tacked to the dash! Actually, the interior looks very nice.

One of the team at work has a CX5 (not a 6 i know, but wondered if same engine) of that vintage (think it is just over 3 years old), that has just had over 3k spent on it plus Mazda contribution for parts of the repairs following problems with head and manifold. It has done just about 100,000 miles.

We have a 2.2d 6. 2011 car with 70k on it. We do around 9k miles a year. A mix of shopping runs ad 140mile round trips. I use all the revs when I drive. The wife a little less so.
We have had no issues at all other than regular servicing. No dpf issues either and these were renowned for them.
