What does this really mean?
Discussion
Took the MX5 to it's first owners meet(by mistake, but that's another story)
When I pulled up the archivist came running over and seemed rather excitied.
It would seem that mine is one of only two press demonstrators and has a Blue Printed engine.
Firstly, I need to confirm this, presumably I can do this via the DVLA?
Secondly, if it is, what does this really mean?

You are better off asking Mazda themselves. All you will need is the VIN. I am pretty sure one of the press cars was stripped and used in a race series, then after an "incident" it was rebuilt and sold on as a road car.
I wasn't aware the press cars had blueprinted engines, but if they do, it means that the engine was built to a specific plan, which may or may not differ to a regular MX5 engine. Without knowing what the plan is it is impossible to tell you the differences between yours and a stock 5.
You may be better off asking at www.mx5ocforum.co.uk as there are loads of MX5 geeks on there .

All engines have tolerances (e.g. this gap here must be 20mm +/-0.02mm). Blueprinted engines are rebuild examples done to the exact specification of the original plans (e.g 20mm bang on in this example). This *should* result in a perfect engine, constructed to the exact spec Mazda intended
