Evening all.
I was persusing Fleabay and happened on this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-Nissan-Skyline-R34...

I absolutely love 4- door Skyline's, and while I realise this is in no way a GT-R, isn't it just the coolest thing ever?

It just looks soo right to my eyes. smile

Anyone aware of any mods to this powerplant?

At 200bhp it will be an NA RB25, thirstier than you would expect for the relatively low power output (my dad and a mate have both had 2.5NA Stageas). The NEO-6 is the facelift VVT version. Not sure if the GT-X is a Rwd or 4wd version, but I can't see any ATTESSA badges on it.

Basically its a fairly big heavy car with a nice and characterful but thirsty and not overly powerful engine, if its like the Stageas it will be nice enough to drive if you don't mind the weight.

I get some basic spec info from carfolio, the GT-X is RWD for both turbo'd and non turbo'd versions, automatic's are apparently 4sp!!! yikes
I forgot that Japanese manufacturers hung onto their 4sp fpr so long, was the same with my Toyota as the previous gen was a 4sp auto then my gen they jumped to a 6sp.

GT-X non-turbo

From my experience Skyline's will handle well almost whatever spec you get but you really want to have a turbo.

Cheers for now the responses guys.thumbup

Good info re the gearbox. Isn't this a Tiptronic box similar to the ones in the Legnum/Galant VR4?

What sort of drinking problem are we talking about? 20's mpg.

Finally, is it true that you can bolt a factory turbo on these RB25 N/A lumps?

Cheers.smile

Dad's Stagea averaged ~20mpg around town and ~23-24 on the open road (100km/h NZ speed limit and he didn't generally drive it hard at all). It was significantly thirstier as well as significantly slower than my Legacy GTB, but a nice comfortable relaxed cruiser and went around corners better than I expected with ~1700kg (IIRC).

But the Skyline body should be lighter, and being the Rwd rather than AWD version should make it more economical too - I've heard from a few sources that the ATTESSA AWD system increases fuel consumption more than most.

Over its lifetime my older R33 GTS-T did between 17~23mpg depending on how I drove it so if you're averaging the same wouldn't it be better to get a turbo'd one? I once got 174miles from a 1/4 of a tank thanks to having my mum sat next to me laugh

Agree with the comments about the corners, mine always amazed me with how well it performed and I'd kept it completely stock.

My brother is going to be listing his R34 4dr for sale soon, turbo automatic.

Great cars, I had one myself but sold it as I moved abroad and it was never driven, you can see through my history I like Skyline's smile.
