300ZX non-turbo remap

Grazing through the ads, like you do, I found a non-turbo version of the Nissan 300ZX. Getting on in years, I don't necessarily need the full fat twin turbo experience, or to have to sit for a minute with the engine running before shutting it down; I kept forgetting with my Impreza and it went bang. However, I read somewhere that in this format and with its weight, the ZX can be underwhelming.

So...how easy is it to remap the engine for some extra oomph without stressing it into another calamity?

It's been an awful long time since I saw a 300ZX never mind talk of tuning them, but I'd go with the same advice of most NA japanese stuff of the era that there probably isn't a great deal more power to get out of them without spending a small fortune. They aren't exactly well catered for any more and finding someone who knows how to get anything out of them could be pretty tough in the first instance!
