GT86 worn synchro solution

Hello,

60,000 miles in my 2nd and to a lesser extent 3rd gear synchros are a bit clunky and don’t appreciate being rushed.

What’s the option tree look like for this? Doubtless there is a GT86 specialist out there rather than take it to a random gearbox place,

Any tips gladly received.

This is considered a feature of the GT86 gearbox. A lot of them do this from new, one person I know had the gearbox done under warranty and it came back pretty much the same. Some of them are stiff into 2nd, some of them crunch/catch a bit into 3rd or 4th. If you are really unlucky you will get all of it.

Try changing gear when going for it so you will be at high revs when changing, you will most likely find it doesn't do it then. If that is the case I would just live with it as getting new sycnhro's is no guarantee of a fix and will cost a lot.

My one used to do it from 2nd to 3rd and it annoyed me, car was under warranty, Toyota weren't interested and said it was normal. I don't have the car anymore but not because of this issue, I just put up with it and adjusted my driving style to stop it doing it.
