So has anyone put a deposit down?

Looking at the reviews and the road tests the car is setting itself up to be rather impressive.

I'd been waiting since Nov 2016 for more info, and to put a deposit down for one.

Not interested now, I expected it to be more expensive, and more hardcore.

The car they've produced should have been called a Celica.

Apparently it’s to guarantee you get a Supra in 2018.

Only 300 cars coming to the UK + another 600 for the rest of Europe.

If you are one this special ‘900’ you will be invited to exclusive events etc, whatever they may be. confused

This is honestly bks. I have a Z4 coupe and was waiting for the new one. Once I learned that the "new E86" was going to be the Supra I I wanted that. For them to be so limited is rather disappointing to be honest. Not many Z4 Coupes event came to the country but there are more than 300!

I have paid the £1000 deposit. It is refundable at any time prior to ordering so there's no commitment. Price and spec to be finalised but I have been told roughly June 2019. Toyota have a grand of my money and I don't care. If I can buy one of these stunning looking cars then I will be a very happy chap. My dealer reckons £46K plus pre-launch event, test drive (deposit payers only) and exclusivity of just 300 cars.

If the camoulaged example is anything to go by it suffers from the same affliction as the GT86.
The design team went home on a Friday before doing the rear and a new lot with a different brief turned up on Monday to finish the job.
With predictable resuts. Such a shame as apart from that aberration it looks great.

I don't want a half-German car but unfortuately inter-manufacturer collaboration is the name of the game nowadays.
So I'm sticking with proper pre-2000 Jap metal. smile

Had first contact from my chosen dealer yesterday. He was just seeing if I really had placed an ordered as he wasn’t really sure... doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence.

Then proceeded to tell me he had zero knowledge about the new Supra apart from knowing deposit holders would be invited to an early test drive session... sometime late in 2019! eek

The date keeps getting pushed back it seems.

I think I'm going back to a TTRS

Sadly the dealers know very little at the moment, October to December is reservations, January onwards is when the build confirmation starts, and even that is TBC

Ive not been contacted by my appointed dealer. I phoned them and spoke to a salesman not the guy who is supposed to me my personal liason and ending up getting into a bit of a disagreement with him. He was clueless and had no idea about the launch date, price etc but said £50k plus. When I threatened to withdraw my deposit, he laughed. So I withdrew my deposit and it is now back in my account. I may regret it but I'm being messed about and maybe i'll buy one at a later stage. Meanwhile, I'll stick with my 1993 UK Twin

The dealers know very little at the moment, beyond what is already in the public. There should be 1 or 2 Supra specialists per dealer (called Supra Champions) what were you disagreeing with, see if I can clarify it for you!

Nifty little Echo Dot arrived in the post from Toyota. Loaded with a ‘Supra Skill’ that allows Alexa to provide you with some Supra information. Apparently more info (including podcasts and audio clips) will be added on a regular basis.

Not a disagreement as such just a young guy who spoke to me in a manner that I wasn't happy with and was "stunned" that I was going to cancel my order. He even laughed and when I asked what was so funny he replied "you're cancelling" When I went to the Ashford dealership, I was told £45k and the car would be available in the first half of 2019. This guy at Sidcup then said "no no no, £50k and the first years tax whatever that will be" I also mentioned that after a lot of thought I wasn't happy with the BMW engine and gearbox having owned until very recently a 3 Series with that 8-speed gearbox which I really don't like. We also discussed the possibility it may be a 2.0 entry level engine at that price to which he had no idea. I thought about leaving my deposit in for a while to see what happens but cant be bothered with all the uncertainty and speculation. It's not exciting, its annoying and boring. So I'm now in the process of buying an Exige.

yes I’m leaving my deposit in as a punt in case it turns out to be excellent, and I do really want it to be, but I suspect it won’t be for me. Something about the whole proposition doesn’t feel right, and it’s been overpromoted so now I’m bored of it over 6 months before it even gets to a test drive. I also note that at 50k it’s dangerously close to my old F type which I adored, so it’s going to have to be something really special...
