My 17in Michelin Primacy HP low grip energy savers are near end of life.

I’m minded to get something with a little more grip. I like the sideways action but I’m finding I’m triggering the ABS a lot even in the dry which is a but unnerving. Any recommendations?

I am a bumpy twisty B road guy with plenty of potholes so a bit of sidewall flex is an advantage for me - I don’t track it. Budget unlimited. It’s a third car so doesn’t go out in the snow or driving rain.

Thanks.

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 come in the stock size. (Which off the top of my head I forget).

I like the sideways actions of the eco tyre. It’s just dry braking with ABS light blinking is unnerving in a modern car.

Thanks.

I’m thinking of Continental premium contact 6.

Any experience? Worries the Michelin’s have very stiff sidewalls.

No experience with those. I swapped off a mix of tyres when I got it and put Pilot Super Sports on it which I like. But are old stock, and I've nothing to compare with.

Dead helpful I know!

I use Continental Sport Contact 6 on my RX8 and they are fantastic tyres. A lot of grip, if they can cope with the extra power of the RX8 then they will certainly work well for the GT86. They are better than super sports. MPS4S could be similar or slightly better. Not to be confused with MPS4 of course.

I have just fitted a set to my 16 plate MX5 and they have transformed the car from good to excellent. Way better than the Potenzas that were original fit soooo much more grip in the wet and it rides better (a tad softer).
