Impreza gets free power hike

Official performance lift to over 300bhp

Power hike in free three-month deal
Power hike in free three-month deal
Rice-burners just got faster, as Subaru announced a free power hike for the Impreza WRX and STi Type-UK, up to 261bhp and 301bhp respectively. The deal covers the three-month period of May, June and July –- or while stocks last -– and is worth £1,995 for the STi and £1,600 on the WRX, according to Subaru.

The Prodrive-developed Performance Packs are fitted by the dealer after registration and carry the full Subaru three year/60,000 mile warranty.

As well as the power increases, it means the Impreza WRX STi Type-UK sees its torque leap from 253lb-ft to 299lb-ft resulting in a 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds and 0-100 mph in 12.2 seconds. Top speed is in excess of 155 mph.

Meanwhile, the standard WRX – available in both saloon and 5-door body styles – now has 257 lb-ft of torque, bringing the 0-60 mph time down from 5.6 seconds to 4.8 seconds with 100 mph coming up in 14.1 seconds instead of 15.9 seconds.

Both Prodrive Performance Packs include a reprogrammed ECU and free-flow exhaust system with a large single rear tailpipe.

The Impreza WRX saloon costs £20,300 with the 5-door at £20,800 while the WRX STi Type-UK is £26,400 (all prices OTR).

It'll be one of two things, either they've over-committed to Prodrive and not sold enough kits therefore they need to shift a few, and/or a new model is about to be announced in an attempt to catch up with Mitsubishi!

Anyway, it still looks like a Daihatsu on speed!

I think they need the hike. I chased an noisy (3.5" tailpipe so unknown tuning level) Impreza WRX STI Type UK ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ the other day. He couldn't get away (I was in a standard auto R33 GTS-T with less power than him.)

I suspect the oversized badge slowed him down.

I suspect you were the only one to race, and the guy just didn't bother to let you behind.

maybe. it did sound like he was pressing on though. and with the rate at which he reached the speed limit, maybe his acceleration pedal got stuck in the down position.

mr fix it

Would it not be better to buy it form a car supermarket for 16k WRX or 20-21k STI and get it fitted as an aftermarket, that way you save ££££££
