Is it possible to import a Japanese vehicle without document
Discussion
I want to buy a Japanese "parts removed" car, basically it's a 60s car that's in bad condition it has rust all over and the engine isn't in running condition. The owner has sold many cars before but not internationally. The car has no documents or keys. Would it be possible to export it out of Japan? How can I fix this, because I read that you need an export certificate. I'd really appreciate if someone could help me regarding this matter!
I dont think I can help, but you do need the Japanese export cert and a translated version for the DVLA to give you any chance of registration here.
I think the only way would be to have the person in Japan try to source the documents or failing that it would probably need to be a parts car only.

I'm not worried about registering it here, it seems impossible to get it shipped without documents. I asked a Japanese import company and they told me the only way would be to cut the car in half then it can be shipped :/ So many old rusty project cars have no document it's unfair that you can't ship them out of the country. Different laws should apply to rusty old project cars. I missed out on so many opportunities just because there were no documents. I was offered a Mazda Cosmo for £13,000, granted it wasn't in working condition and had rust but everything was original and the interior looked mint.
