05 WRX 5 door as 30,000 miles per yr daily driver?
Discussion
Hi,
first post on this forum, so here goes!
Just about to change my car (company funded 3 yr personal lease inc fuel, servicing etc). Cover 30-35K miles per yr and have had a 2.5 Jag X type Sport for the last 3 yrs.
This time round want something that is faster (!), more fun and less 'grown up', if that makes sense and have been considering a new WRX 5 door, maybe with PPP pack and upgraded brakes (!), but was wondering how comfortable and sensible it is for that kind of use?
I know that I will have a ball on the back roads but I guess that I am asking how wearing it will be in terms of noise/ride on a 200 mile motorway journey?
Appreciate any feedback.
Thanks
Nick

What he said. I've got a 97 5 door which is fine (and the newer ones are more civilised). I regularly do 200+ miles in it without problems, and went to the Alps pretty much non stop.
As has been said the fuel bills are a bit eye watering and you'll probably be refuelling at about 250 miles
I'm selling mine now, but when I'm looking for a practical estate car in about a year's time I'll be finding another one.

I had a 98 Impreza, did 53K in 20 months, it was fine on long journeys (as long as your back is compatible with the seats!), though the poxy little fuel tank limits the range somewhat, especially if pressing on. Filled up 3 times in one day once but did cover 550 miles and had plenty left at the end!
The service interval was also a pain at 7.5K miles though I believe newer cars have a longer interval.
Would agree about the exhaust mods, keep them to a minimum if you cover lots of miles.
But what a car, it will have you off every motorway looking for challenging B roads!
Also ultra reliable, no breakdowns or parts failures in 53K miles including several circuit days.
Get one, everyone should have an Impreza experience at some point in their lives!

Once again, thanks for responses.
I saw the 'free PPP' advert yesterday, just need them to keep in on until August when the car goes back!
Will probably go for the 5 door WRX with PPP - my wife's not too keen, but I've persuaded her that being a 5 door, it's a far more practical family car...!
Also went for a test drive in the Legacy B spec estate - very smooth but still good fun to drive.
Will let you know
Cheers
