Is a Japanese used car reliable?
Discussion
Hi guys,
I'm very curious about this topic because I have never had experiences in owning a used car. Somehow I knew about purchasing Japanese used cars (https://carfromjapan.com/cheap-used-cars-for-sale) via online platform in Japanese is very popular. But I'm a newbie and do not have enough information about this issue. I would like to know whether the Japanese used cars are reliable like they are advertising in the websites? Do we have to spend more money on fixing/maintaining this old car?
Please give me some advances.

In my experience ( warranty claim processor for Lexus and Toyota in a past life ), Japanese cars of a certain vintage are beyond reproach, and incomparably reliable to European counterparts. Not sure about your motives for starting the thread, but if it's because you intend to purchase in the near future, and have a limited budget, an early to mid-90s car from either of the marques mentioned above are something I'd generally regard as bulletproof if looked after to some degree.
To add balance, if your budget stretches to something newer, I'd give the diesels from either of the above a miss, more prone to problems in my experience.
