I've got this car that's just done 41K and want to take it in for a service.

What's the appropriate service for 41K for a car of this age?

Last one was 2 years ago at 37K.

The Honda service centre folks tell me they have two services - an interim service or a full service aka 12+ service which is required every 3 years.

Looking at the service record the 37K service seems to have been an interim one:

- oil changed
- oil filter changed
- air filter ""
- pollen filter ""
- exhaust centre
- exhaust rear
- various gaskets

P.S.: first posted on Japanese Cards > Honda, but that place seems to be pretty quiet so posting under General Gassing for a higher chance that someone might see this and respond. Apologies if this is a breach of etiquette smile

While I have nothing concrete to tell you, I'd say get an oil and oil filter change done (becuase it's been two years since the last change, I wouldn't leave oil in a car for much longer than a year). Pollen filter will probably go another couple of years (take it out and see what it's like) and I'd say the same for the air filter as well. What's meant by exhaust centre, rear and various gaskets? I'm assuming Honda just checks them to see if they need replacing?

Thanks MRichards, going by the paperwork from the previous owner for the last service (not at a Honda service centre), looks like the gaskets were replaced.

Not sure what the exhaust centre/rear refers to though.. was hoping that's some sort of a standard check/tuning that's done and might mean something to folks who have had some experience with HOnda service

My mother has a similarly low mileage 2008 Jazz. You shouldn’t need air filters changing again after 4K miles. I would just get the oil/filter done and check levels of transmission oil/coolant etc etc etc.

I just do this myself for her now yearly (2k miles a year), approx £40 for genuine filter from Honda and some decent oil.

Thanks Green1man.. my annual driving is similar.. 2-3K a year, so I might just do the same in the future.

Just for this service, I'm considering going for the Honda service as this will be the first time I'm servicing this after I bought it.

Last few services by previous owner are all independent, so wondering if it might be good to just get a Honda technician have a look once

Loving driving a Jazz. Fantastic polite efficient fair priced service from Honda main dealer, who aren't the smarmy snobby creeps I encounter at a Mercedes main dealer. Top of the range jazz has big panoramic glass roof, quiet engine, smooth automatic gearbox with paddles, cruise & air con. What more does one need? . My 150mph sports car often left at home unless sun is shining as Jazz perfect for bumbling about never doing more than 40mph, so so relaxing. Never tired even after several hours at the wheel.

Me too, WJNB.

What type of service would you recommend for my case?
