Can anyone recommend a Jap car - other than the Hilux/Hiace - that can tow 1500kg?

Ty all.....Ive realised the petrol beasties variants trade at a discount. Must be worth LPG'ing them.

So, have bought a 2006 2.2 CRV SE with 22k on the clock. Basic as hell; underside surface corrosion concerns me but car comes with 15 month warranty plus new fault free MOT so what could possibly go wrong.....

Test drive revealed no shuddering on the clutch, whining from the diff. It pulled strongly from 2nd. Brakes fine.

I am pretty sure Ill get the underside sorted by Rust Buster.

I ended up buying one of these for the following reasons:

- big 4x4's are big money and really won't be used to their fullest abilities with me
- my son flatly refused to let me drive a Toyota Hiace vanI found with low miles on it
- Nissan X-Trail are cheaper, better specd'd but the French Connection kept throwing up more mechanical doubts than the CRV for similar aged vehicles
- I like the honesty of the Lego-esque shape
- fuel economy great
- will tow 1500kg

So, we shall see how we go...

Automatic Mitsubishi Shogun pulling 3/3.5 tonnes as SWB/LWB. Would be my recommendation.
