About time I introduced myself!
Discussion
Dear fellow ricers
Though I've actually posted a few times on here I thought I'd better introduce myself properly - so Hello
I'm the proud owner of an mx5 which I've modded and still adding bits too. I like trackdays and meets. I've had the car since 1998 and I've been all over in it
- driven it from Hull to Andorra for a skiing trip top down and dressed as Elvis!
- driven to just about every part of the uk in it, from Lands end to john o groats - including a great drive in the northmost coast of Scotland all the way back down to Hull - fantastic roads, no gatso's and no traffic
- Driven to Monte Carlo and south of france for my honeymoon in September
- Tracked it at Donington and Curborough a few times
Live in a beautiful village near Hull/Beverley in East Yorkshire.
I was a member of the mx5 owners club for many years, but I've become disallusioned and bored with the mx5 meets. There are only so many times you want to look at the same model of car over and over again. I'd much rather meet people with different cars.
Discovered Pistonheads through a very good friend of mine GregE240 whom I met through the mx5 Owners club.
Attended my first vMax last month along with infamous Gazboy and Trackdemon along with some of the other Jap chat guys on here. Apologies for not coming up and chatting to you Gazboy at vMax, I was kinda dazed with all the fantastic cars and driving.
I have also met BenJC and Phil Large from a few track days at Donnington and through the Mx5 Owners club etc.
I look forward to meeting you all on a Japanese meet sometime in the summer.
Cheers
Dewey

Hello boss.
JMax?
What, all cars limited to 180Kph?
Only the ones with stock ecus
It is Si's fault I went to the dark side, after a ride round Donny in his Avoed 5 I couldn't resist the draw!
Hi mate, remember that well, it wasn't long after you started modding your 5. I seem to remember you live around the Nottingham area Ben?
Forced inducation is the only way to fly!
Enjoyed the ride with you at Vmax Simon - Bit of rear axle tramp on acceleration and cornering, perhaps stiffening up the rear or getting some adjustable shocks might be an idea? (Maybe a few bushes are due for refreshing).
Great fun though and gives the sort of power the 5 chassis is crying out for. Had a fantastic ride with Steve in the NSX too. Lovely car.
I may run a straight through decatted system for the next Vmax (If I get a place). We'll see what noise/flames we can get.

Hi Smiffy thanks for the kind comments.
I wasn't impressed with the handling of my car at vMax either. I already have KYB adjustable gas shocks so no problem stiffening up the rear suspension (currently on setting of 3 front and rear 1 - softest 8 stiffest), should have had a play with the settings on the day. Last year the car had all the bushings replaced with Super Pro poly bushes so that shouldn't be the problem. The problem is likely that the shocks are running continually on the bump stops as its been lowered and mx5s don't have much rear suspension travel.
I've just ordered some of these
Rear shock mounts
(the same company I bought my suspension kit from) and this will give me an extra inch and half of suspension travel which is supposed to transform the handling charactersitics of the car - according to friends who have fitted them and forum members.
Exhaust and decat sounds fun After sorting my suspension next job is to get a proper roll bar fitted, for safety but also to stiffen up the chassis. I'm also planning on turning up the boost from 12 psi to 15psi with my programmable ECU. I'd like an 10-15 bhp which should be possible through tuning. I need to look at having a Wideband sensor fitted to autotune the car under boost.
The drive with you mate was amazing, I haven't laughed that much in a car for a long time
