New new Nissan X-trail Avoid or take a punt?

I'll elaborate, due to a part govt funded scheme the family is in a position to get a new 2017 vehicle on motability.
We used to have a 2004 Petrol CR-V which was pretty sweet in every respect bar fuel economy.
I'm considering the new new (facelifted) 7 Seat X-Trail Acenta as a contender (to be honest there's not that much available via motability that offered that kind of size + standard spec equipment which is seriously generous.
I'm more of a petrol guy and wouldn't usually consider diesel because of the borkability factor, however as it's brand new and anything wrong with it will be fixed under warrenty etc it may not be so much of an issue after all.
Petrol or Diesel?
Does anyone have a new version petrol variant who could comment?
I briefly considered the Seat acenta, but that's a bit smaller ad a lot less generous on equipment
