My holiday in the MRT (Pics and Waffle)
Discussion
Picked up Laura bright and early (ahem... half nine) ready for the adventure of a lifetime. Will we make it? Will we fit everything in? How many warning lights? Will she moan? etc etc
So, will everything fit?
Easily. Didnt even need to use the front boot. I limited myself to a small bag, and Laura took a large bag - but easily could have fitted more in.
The weather on the journey down was lovely, just the sort of thing you want for the start of your holiday.
Made our way down the M5 to Bristol, then the plan was to take A and B roads down to Dorset - including a stop at the Chedadar Gorge for a brew.
Note how happy Laura looks even though its raining cats and dogs - I think it is because she secretly likes the MR2, but she insists that its just the tassles on her new handbag.
After a quick cuppa we stopped for a brief photo opportunity - then we were on our way.
The roads down that way were a true joy. Hardly any cameras, with loads of opportunities for overtaking slower vehicles (i.e. Everyone) - It really was good to give the MR2 a good blast and drive it in the way it was intended - You don't get much opportunity for B road blasting in Birmingham!
As an aside: Spent the day in Weymouth - its rubbish. This poster has it spot on.
And perhaps it was a slow news day...
Also spent a morning at the Haynes Motor Museum nr Yeovil. Only £6.50 to get in, and about 300 cars on show. Was a good morning, even Laura enjoyed it. The "Max Power" area was a bit gay though.
Chavtastic!
last day, left Dorset with half the county on the car
But the weather was much better, and enjoyed some good roads on the way back.
Winding the windows down and giving it the full Marlon Marrow in 2nd was greeted with some disapproval...
and finally....
No warning lights!
The only question that remains unanswered is "Did she moan?" - Well - only a little, the tunnel caused a frown, as did overtakes of more than 2 cars. Generally though, MrsF was very relaxed and well behaved!
We even discussed the possibility of a foreign touring holiday, which Laura would be happy to be part of.
It seems her hating of the MRT may be abating after all.
Just wait til she finds out how much im spending on fixing the oil leak and upping the boost....

Glad you had fun I was up the Gorge on Saturday morning, great fun that road. Did you get a chance to go up/down Burrington Combe? Even better than the Gorge since it was resurfaced a couple of years back.
Got to ask, where's that tunnel? Is it in the South West somewhere? I've been dieing to find a local tunnel

Very nice
Love pics 5 and 6.
Cheers I'm not a great photographer and I was using a crappy £80 digi cam. It was a "dive out the car and take a quick pic" moment as it was absolutely hammering down.

Didnt get chance to go on the Burrington Combe...I could tell I was pushing my luck with the missus asit was!
The tunnel is only about 100m long....we used it on the way between bridport and the motor museum (yeovil way) and again on the way home, so i think its on the A35 or A3066 or something...I'll get the map out and have a look later.

The tunnel thing. Is it you have a 'thing' for tunnel driving?
Or
Is it the rewarding accoustic blast that you're after?
If the latter is applicable.Take a blatt round Bath. Not exactly ridden with tunnels.Tons of high built up solid walls in narrow streets for the sound to reverberate off & just enough space for getting the back out, alledgedly .(esp around the train station area).Just got back from misbehaving there meself.Great for large grin factor after a tedious day long seminar.
