Hi guys,

As my Peugeot 406 HDi (which I've had for 16 years) is coming to the end of its days, I'm in the process of acquiring another car, and I shall be collecting a 2003 Lexus GS300 SE next weekend.

I've been very happy with the diesel Pug., but I'm wanting a bit more refinement and smoothness for my last few years of driving; and I think the Lexus should provide that. Anyhow there two matters on which I'd like your help.

Firstly, the Lexus has 17" alloy wheels with 235/45 R 17 tyres, and I'm not keen on low profile tyres. For comparison the 406 has 195/65 R 15 tyres, and my feeling is that while the GS300 is the much nicer car overall, on rough roads the Peogeot gives better ride comfort than the GS300, and I suspect the tyres have quite a bit to do with this. My thinking therefore is that I'd like to get new 16" wheels for the Lexus, and use 225/55 R 16 tyres; and given that these were (I think) fitted as standard on the S, rather that the SE model, this seems to be a legitimate option, rather than an out-of-the-blue hare brained thing to do. So far as cost is concerned the existing wheels need refurbishing in any case, and it will need two new tyres fairly soon, so the additional cost of this exercise shouldn't be too painful.

The second point is to do with the built-in satnav system, and the question is this: Is it possible to put in one final destination, but tell it that I want to go via points A, B and C in order to get there? If not, presumably one feeds in a series of destinations and when we get near the first one, we enter the second, and so on. So which is it; how do we deal with this 'intermediate point' situation?

Does anyone here have a GS300 with the built-in Lexus satnav, and can explainm how I might achieve what I want to do?

Best wishes all,
Dave.
