best Jap export & auction sites
Discussion
Howdy,
I'm hankering after another Integra, now that i'm back on an island with roads that are less like a wack-a-mole table, and really can't justify the current 2 Hilux Surfs, even if they are quite different.
I'll likely import direct from Japan (so not interested in UK importers), and I've always poured over tradecarview.com and beforward.jp, and in general see the same cars for less on the latter. Are there any other really good jap auction / export sites that are worth spending some time on? Looking for cheaper end of the DC2 or DC5 market.
cheers,
Dom

Last one I used was: http://www.japaneseusedcars.com/
As you'll know the exchange rate is rubbish so it wont be cheap. Great fun though.

I have previously bought through japaneseusedcars.com too, totally fine but their fees turn out to be expensive compared to the above.

How much would it cost to get this shipped to the UK and on the road?

Its a 2011 so it will need more than just the MOT, I think its called an "IVA" now... not sure if you can get one easily or not... anyway, I'm no expert on that.
On costs:
Say 2m yen = £13900ish
Shipping = £1000
Duty = £1489
VAT = £3276
IVA = £500 (I have no idea really, just a guess)
Custom Agents Fees = £100
Some minor conversion guff = £100
So ballpark £19,465 but likely more

Interesting, thanks. You could get a Mk2 Touareg for much less than that in the UK, same year/milage. Hmmm...On costs:

How come there are no bike prices from the same site?

I'm pondering an import currently and am thinking about doing it myself using one of the Japan-based agents like mentioned here. I'm looking to get a WiLL VS, which I have wanted for ages (and even posted a thread here ages ago). They seem to fetch a small premium despite their age because I think they are getting fairly rare/desirable over there, but they are cheap enough that the fees for a UK-based importer would be a good % of the value.
Since they are all > 10 years old it just needs a fog light and then MOT. I think the logistically trickiest part will be getting it from the port to my house - I don't really know anyone who could trailer it, I might need to use a man+trailer service.

The transport fee should be pretty cheap anyways, it was one of the easiest parts for me. Arrange yourself or just ask the custom agent to assist which I did.
Ive not gone into much detail but they tend to go for under 200,000 yen depending on spec by the look of it... so I'd estimate around £3k ish for it

Yes, I should be able to get a 3.5 for around 200,000 easily I think. Snag is I think I want a manual, which seem pretty scarce (1 in 20 maybe). I'm not in a hurry though so I'll watch the listings carefully and get an account set up with Pacific Coast ready.Ive not gone into much detail but they tend to go for under 200,000 yen depending on spec by the look of it... so I'd estimate around £3k ish for it
I have imported two cars from the US and that was pretty easy, the shipping line filed the customs paperwork at the time (£90 in 2005) but I might see if I can do that myself this time.
