Subaru WRX Hatchbacks?
Discussion
Hi guys,
I would like to change my MG ZS 180 this year for something a little more modern. I have always been a fan of Subaru's and the WRX hatchback seems to fit many of my criteria.
Question is what are they like? I hear the 2.5 is a bit of a weak point is this true? I can't stretch to the STI and to be fair I don't need that much power in the family car (I have the RX7 for that) and so the WRX would be kept standard.
Any thoughts?

Buy an older jdm sti. A mate of mine who has had every impreza model had a low mileage 03 jdm sti sold it and bought a hatch kept it for about two months and bought his old car back. 2.5 suffer from ring land failure so unless the one you are buying has received a set of pistons already I'd be budgeting another 3k on top of the asking price for a rebuild

Thanks, I might have a look at the STI wagons, any idea when the last ones were built? Really want something more modern than the MG but then as it was based on a 90's Civic the Subaru should be miles ahead! The subaru platform hasn't changed much from the 90s a lot of stuff is interchangeable so I wouldn't be expecting much. A forester would be a good buy or a legacy wagon. I've never seen a new age impreza sti wagon myself maybe they don't exist or maybe it's because I'm not a fan of wagons. Good luck with the search
