I'm fed up with my Audi a3 petrol, I bought it needing reliable small car for my family, I've covered a few thousand miles and had nothing but problems.

Now another niggle has popped up, this time a air bag warning light. I've had it and want to get rid.

I've been looking at the Mitsubishi lancer, 2 litre vw diesel engine versions. Range from 2009 to 2011 models.

They can be had at very good prices with much lower mileage than my Audi (82k).

Anyone got any experiences worth sharing? Am I been silly? What alternatives could there be, my budget is under 6 grand.

I would recommend having a drive of one as whilst they are very well put together cars the 2.0 Diesel engine although it is a VW unit it is an unrefined and noisy thing.

Also if you go for the GS3 or GS4 with the bigger alloys, although they look smart they create a lot of road noise so again important to have a drive in one.

I would urge you to consider what type of journeys you do and how that would work for a car with a DPF.

SWMBO had a 07 Mazda 5 2.0 Diesel which turned out to be a complete money pit, due to her short journey and the DPF.
