Discussion
Hi all i have a problem with my 2006 2.2dci manual nissan x-trail i have had the car for 7 months with no problems last saturday the car stalled at a cross roads and then struggeld to start i managed to start it but had to keep reving it to stop it from stalling. it is harder to start and keeps cutting out only when ticking over it has not lost any power and does not smoke. and there is know engine light or codes . So i changed the diesel filter just because i had one laying around and cleand the maf and changed the air filter. and no change then i took it to a garage that does nissans they had it for two days and said they have no idea whats wrong with it all looks normal on there computer
i wonderd if any one has come across this problem and could help
many thanks

Hi andrew sorry to her you have the same problem. I have now changed cam and crank sensors and replaced egr valve and guess what.. Still the same. I reset the ecu and that improved things a little. Runs longer on idle but still stalls. and very hard to start from cold sometimes... starts better when worm. I need to rev engine when starting from cold it seems to help.
There must be some one out there in the know. I really don't want to go to Nissan and pay them for guessing as well as parts. Lol

Good afternoon I am now £104 lighter
Nissan said it is 100% a timing problem. Chain streach or chain has skipt a tooth.
The way to test this is to unplug the cam sensor. If it starts better and ticks over perfect then that's your proplem
£1600. At Nissan. £800 at another garage I asked. Bits on eBay 100 to 300 £ I might have ago my self. After some research.
Hope this will help.
