Question for the JapChatters collective experience.
The R33 will be needing new brake pads soon (can't afford big brake conversion at mo)as the car gets almost daily driver status,I don't want pads that are too track orientated/take ages to get to working temp.Best stopping power for fast road use + heavy,1300kg car, should do it.
Gentlemen,start your suggestions,please...
Matt

Currently using Pagid fast road pads on the GT4.

Give good bite, dont appear to fade and seem kind to the discs.

I have heard Ferodo get a lot of praise but they seem to be almost twice the cost of anything else.

I have used green stuff in the 200 and they were bad, probably worse than the standard items. I now have Mintex and they are pretty good but very noisy.

I've used Ferodo DS-2500 pads and Red Stuff Caramic, and both work very well with my Evo VI.

They don't take too much warming up, and offer a fair bit of bite.

Can't comment on track use though.

Thanks guys,so ferodos,pagids & red stuff ceramics
The tuttle muses aloud
This R33 doesn't have ABS-make any difference?
Ceramic pads,I like the idea of proven techy stuff (the Merc/Maclaren etc uses ceramics). Are Cer' pads very'hard' & not give much feel?-just something half remembered.
Ferodo pads are £££,unless there is a significant performance/wear improvement prolly not cost effective.
Must ring C.Wilson too,he posts some good stuff on the Yahoo GTR group thread.
Pagids, well Gaz's supe has more power but is a similar weightought to do the job nicely.
Any more ideas or discussion on brakes, braking tech & pads chaps?

I'm using Hawk HT-10/Hawk HP+ front/rear with black diamond combi discs to the front on my FD.

Stopping power is awesome hot or cold. In the cold thay're better than standard pads (the FD is no slouch when it coms to stopping as standard). When they're up to temp they're too good for the the Eagle-F1 tyres - the abs was kicking in at 130mph at the end of hangar streight at silversone!

The do dust quite alot though but seem to be very kind to the disks. Some squeal under low-spped, light breaking.

EBC Red stuff ceramic were quite good.

Lost a little bit of initial bite over the origonal integra pads but were there from cold and they cured the fade problem I was getting.

Hmmm-the nissan pads, presently fitted, are a bit 'grabby' too, which can produce a few sweaty moments, with no ABS in the wet.

I would recommend Mintex. We have always run them on comp cars and they seem damn good. You good run 1155 front and 1144 rear. 1155 are based more towards track day cars, the 1144 are a better spec than standard ones. If its everyday use maybe have 1144 all round. Also you can get them pretty much anywhere, and they aren't megga doe

Getrag, just visiting here, thanks for the plug! In fairness performance friction make, (IMO) the best pads, but they are FAR more expensive than my fast road pads, and not easily available for the stock r33 GTR 4 pot Brembo front calipers, although they are available as another fitting for the rear 2 pots. i can supply "my" pads for both front and rear, and they give more bite and significantly more fade resistance than stock ones, without a noticeable noise or dust penalty, and they work from stone cold.

Thanks again, I am just about to pack *YOUR* stuff up
