Hello,

Anyone know of a buyer's guide for one of these? I'm looking at 2003-2006 VX models, preferably a 4.2 TD but I might consider a 4.7 V8 if nicely converted to LPG. The TLOC forum is very quiet and strangely doesn't seem to have one.

Thanks.

What sort of information are you after?

The Amazon is as reliable a vehicle as has ever been made so not a great deal of 'known problems' to list out, also they weren't especially awash with luxury features or different spec levels so nothing much to write about there either.

As they are all several years old now and will most likely have been bought to be used rather than to look good, you'll have to just inspect them like any other car and buy on condition.

Thanks, I did pretty much just that and bought a very nice 2004 4.2 TD today, it's good I'm not superstitious.

https://www.landcruiserclub.net is where everyone is these days.

The actives which have the hydro suspension system can give bother with the spheres. Apart from that they are mechanically the sames as before (eg tough as old boots)

You're right, I've been reading that forum for a couple of months (the owner's club site is a bit slow going) and joined tonight. I'm aware of the sphere issues, and of the person to go to in case of problems, so I will budget for that.

So far I'm very happy, we're going to take it for a run somewhere tomorrow.
